Excavations in the Medieval Ifach Village

Calpe is happy to share good news: The Medieval Village of Ifach —Pobla Medieval de Ifach or Villa Medieval de Ifach— has finally entered the register of Spanish Heritage sites.

This guarantees the preservation and protection of this area of inestimable archaeological value.

The Medieval Village has an approximate size of 4.2 hectares in the Rock of Ifach and is the silent witness of the settlements by northern people by the end of XIII and start of XIV century, while Jaume I was king.

The excavations in the villa are part of “Proyecto IFACH”. Those who wish to see it by themselves can request additional information at the tourist info offices of Calpe. They will provide useful information about the trails and the free guided tours organised on a regular basis, such as these ones.

Any hiker familiar with the landscapes and trails of Calpe will agree on the richness of its historical sites.

Among these historical buildings and settings we can find the Queen’s Baths —Baños de la Reina, which inclusion in the Spanish Heritage registry has been also requested by the Town Hall.
