The battle on the beach

Today, Sunday 24th, it will be difficult to get bored for in Calpe and its vicinities. It’s the last day of the Moros y Cristianos 2010 fiesta to honour the Santísimo Cristo del Sudor, a miraculous statue of Christ that is reported to have sweated blood.

This is just one on a row of events taking over Calpe during October: Oktoberfest 2010 Calpe and the Romería de San Francesc, a religious fiesta with processions.

The Disembarkation –Desembarco- will take place at 11:00 h. Moors jumping out from the ships will meet the Christians rushing from town at Arenal Bol beach to start the First Battle –Primera Batalla.

At 18:30 h, Moors and Christians associations will feature a colourful Great Children’s Parade -Gran Desfile Infantil de Moros y Cristianos. The last shows start at 21:00 h: The Parliament –Parlamento, the Second Battle –Segunda Batalla- and the Miracle, at Plaza mayor.

The strawberry on the cake is Tapear por Calp 100% different.  Associated restaurants and bars offer a tapa and a drink for only €2. That is, undoubtedly, the best way to close the day.
